Welcome to the Firkin Music page. After writing short stories and poems for a number of years and publishing books on Amazon, in November 2019, I decided to turn my hand to songwriting. Although not a professional musician, I read music and have a limited knowledge of piano playing, twanging a guitar and playing the mouth organ all for my own amusement. After attending a local music jamming session in Peyia, Paphos, Cyprus and being totally inspired by the highly talented keyboard playing organiser and local musicians, I set about writing lyrics. I soon found it was a little different to writing poetry. Now I have fifteen lots of full lyrics, eleven with basic tunes and four still in progress. They include ballads, rock and roll, party and Blues. Sad part is I can’t sing so I am writing for other artistes and the challenge of it and finding it great fun and interesting plus a lot of learning. The website Musicians Unite on Facebook gives loads of information direct from musicians. Will keep you posted. 1st, July 2020.
